the future
I know myself, and i know that i can be one of those people who procrastinate until the last minute and stay up until the early morning, trying to finish a project. There's that sick panicky feeling everytime i look at the clock. After every project, I promise myself that i would never do that again, but somehow find myself in the same position a few weeks later.
Therefore, I am going to start really thinking about my GPA, getting involved with school, and looking into some colleges and my plans for the future. I'm hoping that this way, I won't be as stressed as the other seniors, when the time comes.
One easy way that will help in the long run is getting to know my teachers. Teacher recommendations play a big role in applying for those colleges i am thinking about going to. Sometimes a little sucking up will do no harm. In the winter, I will be sending my teachers hand-written cards for Christmas, to let them know that they matter to me.
Another thing colleges look at is leadership experience. That is actually a problem for me, because I have never been involved in any student council of my school. I know that it will really start counting for college applications in high school, so i have already planned out my school involvement: i will be joining inner council for 9th grade, and possibly running for president or vice president for my sophomore year. I could also run for an ASB position in my sophomore or junior year.
As my band teacher says, teamwork and the ability to work well with others impress colleges such as UCLA as well. An easy way to show that I am cooperative is by being in band. Those who are involved in the arts for all four years of high school get major kudos. I plan on joining marching band and staying in it as long as possible. Yesterday, i went to the information jazz band meeting during lunch. I will most likely be joining. It feels great to be doing something good for myself and coming out of my shy shell. Not many of my friends are in band, so I had to sacrifice my lunch time gossip for the meeting.
At my school, there is a club called JAWS, which is a dragonboating team. By joining the club, I have joined for the team. We meet every Saturday morning by the Santa Ana river to practice rowing a dragonboat, which i have never even seen before, nonetheless row. It will be an exciting experience for me, and something athletic i can do, since i have stopped figure skating. Although it makes me a little nervous that I will probably the only one of my friends to join (I forced Jasmine to sign up with me, but she most likely will not be attending any of the meetings), I hope to make new ones [friends] and have fun either way.

New leaked New Moon trailer!
I love Jane (Dakota Fanning) at the end! "This might hurt just a little." HAHAHAHAH!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2xa_JU995s&feature=player_embedded
anyways, 8th grade has been okay so far. it's fun watching the new scrubs look worried all the time. We still claim our lunch area, which is good. i gave a good speech in History class on Friday, and got 100% on our first English vocabulary quiz. I think i did well on my Geometry Honors assessment test.
Planning on going skating for the first time in months today at Lakewood so that i wouldn't run into my coach and be seen doing horribly.
Off to study states and capitals! Quiz next friday.

braces
i guess i'm kind of like the guinea pig of mama and daddy's orthodontic experiments. i'm using rubber bands that daddy bought in china, to see if they're as good as the ones we buy from the US. apparently, they are as good, and they're a lot cheaper, and now mama has a lot of new and cool colors.
You know how the rubberbands are circular shapes? well, the pack that daddy bought from china includes the normal circle ones, flower shapes, and Mickey Mouse heads! Hee Hee
Dangit. i just realized that now that mama has all these cool colors, i'm going to be taking my braces off in about 2 weeks. D; we should've gone to china last year, so that daddy could've bought the rubberbands, then. that way, i could be showing off pretty colors at school.
but hopefully, mama will stick to her word and take my braces off before school starts.

best stuff ever
just the right amount of all natural sour and sweetness.
for all you who are craving it right now, here's the secret recipe:
estimated time: 5 years.
first, plant a sour apple tree in the backyard.
then, plant a sweet fig tree in the front yard.
wait until the trees grow big and have bear so much fruit that you don't know what to do with them, but you don't want to feed the birds and oppossums, and your chickens aren't trained to eat them.
wash the fruit.
cut and mush them into bite-size pieces.
put them in the pot and begin to boil.
add 2 spoons of all natural honey.
accidentally forget about them for unknown time.
when you remember, they should be mushy and done.
there you go! au natural sweet fig and sour apple sauce. add some cinnamon if you want to keep your chinese mom away....
tip: tastes best when you eat it out of the pot. and when you eat half a pot at a time.
yum!

International Day 09
It was going all well for my friend, Linda, and i while we were walking back to our lunch area, inside the school. Before we had even begun eating, there were our security people, James and Joe, coming to kick us out because there was AP testing and they wanted to clean the hallways. I suddenly panicked and dropped my root beer float, and a third of it went on the carpet, another third went onto Linda's cookie, and the other was safe.
The rest of lunch went okay. We found a table to sit at, and joined our other friends, Michelle, Bianca, and Jasmine. I finished the last of my sad float and Linda's soggy cookie (she didn't want it anymore).
We proceeded to go the the black top where the dances would start at around 1:15. Jasmine, Shiree, and I secured our front row seets by putting our backpacks there. Jasmine and i went to go play in the grass and when we came back, some very rude people -cough, cough, Justyn and Tahnee- took our seats. Not wanting to ruin the happy mood, Jasmine and I graciously left to sit somewhere else. we still had front row seats, but while we sat there for about an hour, my butt was burning up. The sun was not at all kind to us and it forcefully pounded onto our backs. It really sucked because in a lot of the Chinese and Korean dances, they had fans, which they didn't even use! >:(
Our class cultural dances didn't win. We didn't even place. But neither did the Seniors. >:) hehehe.

Book Review #1: Secrets of My Hollywood Life 2: On Location
So, approximately 13 minutes and 3 seconds ago, I finished the book Secrets of My Hollywood Life: On Location by Jen Calonita. I just bought it yesterday from Barnes & Nobles in paperback for $7.99 because i had and $85 card. (I also bought 3 other books which i will probably finish and review by the end of this month.)
For some reason, Amazon claims it is 256 pgs, except my book only has 228.5.
Official synopsis:
" It seems like the summer of dreams come true for Hollywood princess Kaitlin Burke: the media loves her (again), super-cute and funny Austin Meyers is finally her boyfriend, and she's starring in a movie by her all-time favorite director Hutch Adams. What could be sweeter? But life on set is not as perfect as the makeup and costumes. And with an old love and a scheming new publicist on the scene, it's about to get a whole lot messier. "
My review:
Even though I didn't read the first book, Secrets of My Hollywood Life, there was no problem understanding what was going on, unlike The Clique. The book is somewhat girly and cliche and unimportant, but it's like a little treat that can do you no harm. The main character, Kaitlin Burke, is a famous Hollywood actress who, apparently pretended to be a normal high school girl in the first novel, but caused a huge fiasco when her arch nemesis, Sky Mackenzie hijacked her Sidekick and betrayed her. Kaitie finally got the lead role in a new movie directed by her favorite director, but when her backstabbing, creepy ex- boyfriend is cast as her partner role, things can't be worst. Until the crazy director decides to cast the evil Sky as Katie's "best friend". Chaos comes back to Kaitie's life when Sky and Drew (the ex-boyfriend) team up to make her life miserable, and someone keeps leaking secrets about Kaitie to the press. It doesn't help that Kaitie and her adorable boyfriend Austin start fighting as well.
But with the support of her best friend and loyal assistant, Kaitie is sure to make another comeback, right? Read to find out!
3 Stars out of 5
Complete overview:
- 229 pgs.
- $7.99 (paperback) in stores, including Amazon.
- $16.99 (hardcover), $12.74 on Amazon
- Genre: teen/young adult/chic flick

April and Last Day of School
On the last day of my 7th grade year at Whitney High School, our class of 2014 is planning a beach activity, so we get to go off campus for the whole day! Too bad i won't be going. Instead, i'll be on a 13 hour flight to Shenyang, China, puking my guts out. I'm so excited! Not. I don't remember if i mentioned this before, but i'll be in China for 2 1/2 months this summer, where i will be studying math, practicing piano, practing 古筝, practicing violin, possibly drawing, possibly dancing, 5 days a week. And when i have time, i get to go skating, and possibly find a coach. IF I CAN EVEN FIND AN ICE RINK!! but despite this very packed schedule and mostly unappealing activites, i hope that this summer will be a little fun and be a good experience for me.

WORLDS ;)
ONLY THE LADIES FREE AND EXHIBITION, THOUGH.
i have school during the ladies short program, and daddy won't let me go ;(
but that's okay.
today, our first tardy sweep of the year, where teachers lock all classroom doors right when the bell rings, so that the school can catch people who are always tardy.
Unfortunately, i was one of the hundreds of late students who got caught. and this was MY FIRST TIME EVER late to class. except for that one time i was late to band, but he didn't mark me tardy. anyway, so me, and about 200 other people get to have detention next week. ain't that great?

doodling
By HealthDay - Fri Feb 27, 8:48 PM PST- FRIDAY, Feb. 27 (HealthDay News) -- You might look like you're not paying attention when you doodle, but science says otherwise.
Researchers in the United Kingdom found that test subjects who doodled while listening to a recorded message had a 29 percent better recall of the message's details than those who didn't doodle. The findings were published in Applied Cognitive Psychology.
"If someone is doing a boring task, like listening to a dull telephone conversation, they may start to daydream," study researcher Professor Jackie Andrade, of the School of Psychology at the University of Plymouth, said in a news release issued by the journal's publisher. "Daydreaming distracts them from the task, resulting in poorer performance. A simple task, like doodling, may be sufficient to stop daydreaming without affecting performance on the main task."
For the experiment, a two-and-a-half minute listing of several people's names and places was played for test subjects, who were charged with writing down only the names of the people said to be attending a party. During the recording, half the participants were asked to simultaneously shade in shapes on a piece of paper without attention to neatness. Participants were not told they were taking part in a memory test.
When the recording ended, all were asked for the eight names of those attending the party as well as eight place names mentioned in the audio. Those asked to doodle wrote down, on average, 7.5 names and places, while those who didn't doodle listed only 5.8.
"In psychology, tests of memory or attention will often use a second task to selectively block a particular mental process," Andrade said. "If that process is important for the main cognitive task, then performance will be impaired. My research shows that beneficial effects of secondary tasks, such as doodling, on concentration may offset the effects of selective blockade."
In everyday life, Andrade said, doodling "may be something we do because it helps to keep us on track with a boring task, rather than being an unnecessary distraction that we should try to resist doing."

allergies.
those are typical signs that you have allergies. Or you just discovered that you are allergic to a fat cat. yeah, this past long weekend, i found out that i was allergic to 范阿姨's used-to-be-small-but-now-pregnant-looking-orange fat cat. five minutes from departing their house, i was sneezing the whole time in the car, while very sure that i WAS allergic to that cute big demon. even though jie ji and colosseum didn't really believe me. and then, when i got back home, i got bumps or hives on my face, so daddy had to take me to walgreens and buy some wal-dryl (benadryl knock-off). A few minutes later, i was fine.
But still, it is quite a mystery, because i have always played with the stray cats around the neighborhood, and never have i had an allergic reaction. Pearl said that it's probably just something that happens when you get older. >:(
great. now i can't have a cat anymore (not that i was really planning on it). at least i can still eat melons, nuts, and bananas, unlike pearl.

injuries
but anyway, my current injuries are:
still sprained wrist,
twisted ankle,
new scab on knee,
still bruised knee,
scratch on thigh.
so about my new scab: today i was running upstairs, on the carpet floors, when i suddenly slipped and fell because i was wearing 妈妈's slippery socks. who knew that carpet could damage your knee as well as pavement?
and my bruise: i've had it for more than 2 weeks!! i can't believe it's still there. maybe it's because i keep falling on it, or something, but it hasn't changed since the last time my coach and i worked on the harness at Paramount. (either 2 or 3 weeks ago, my memory doesn't go that far)

HEE HEE HEEE
Chinese New Year is coming up soon, i think it's the 26th. Happy Year of the Ox, 姐鸡!
I just realized that there aren't many school days this month:
we had winter break up until the 5th; friday, the 9, we had a half day because of winter formal that night; next monday is Martin Luther King Jr. day = no school; and Next, Next, Next friday (the 30th), is a Student Free Day, where i will be visiting 姐鸡 and Colosseum in Vegas, watching KA with 妈妈 and Daddy!
So, in total, i only have 17 1/2 days of school this month!
By the way, i found out that the famous actress/singing skating girl at the rink is Jennette Mccurdy. She plays Sam on iCarly and has a movie and an album coming out. She's also been on A LOT of other tv shows and movies.
Miao!
